Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Weekly Results by chinmusic on Thursday 31 May 2007 at 3:18 pm

The Rockies were 5-1 last week as they outscored their opponents 27-15 last week.  The Rockies pitching was dominant last week and it showed in their record.  The Rockies entered last week with a 23-27 record which had them in last place in the National League West, 6 games behind the Dodgers and Padres.

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Injuries by chinmusic on Tuesday 29 May 2007 at 1:12 am

The Rockies have placed Josh Fogg on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left groin.  In 10 games (9 starts) so far this season, he is 1-5 with a 4.53 ERA and a 1.55 WHIP.  Fogg has thrown 53.2 innings and he has allowed 61 hits, walked 22 batters and whiffed 33.  The Rockies haven’t decided who they are going to replace Fogg with yet.

Troy Tulowitzki playing a decent shortstop for the Colorado Rockies

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Playing Well by chinmusic on Sunday 27 May 2007 at 8:31 pm

The Rockies were looking to replace Clint Barmes as their starting shortstop after his tough 2006 season, so they gave their #1 prospect according to Baseball America a shot to compete for the starting job.  Troy Tulowitzki outplayed Barmes and earned the starting job.  He had a tough start, but he seems to be settling into the job.  In 45 games this season, Tulowitzki is 45 for 171 (.263 avg, .708 OPS) with 24 runs scored, 2 homers and 20 RBIs.  The Rockies hope Tulowitzki keeps up the good work.

Brian Fuentes has been lights out so far for the Rockies this season

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Throwing Well by chinmusic on Wednesday 23 May 2007 at 10:11 pm

Brian Fuentes has been awesome so far this season as he’s not intimidated by Coors Field.  In 22 games this season, Fuentes is 0-0 with 12 saves, a 2.53 ERA and a 0.75 WHIP.  Fuentes has thrown 21.1 innings this season and he’s only allowed 11 hits while striking out 14 batters and only walking 5.  Fuentes is one of the best closers in baseball that no one really knows too much about…..except Rockies’ fans.

Taylor Buchholz has been pathetic so far for the Colorado Rockies

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Pitching BP by chinmusic on Wednesday 23 May 2007 at 10:00 pm

Buchholz was part of the off-season haul for Jason Jennings, but he’s off to a rough start.  In 10 games (5 starts), Buchholz is 2-2 with a 5.94 ERA and a 1.65 WHIP.  In 33.1 innings, he has allowed 45 hits but he’s only walked 10 batters which is pretty good.  The Rockies need him to pitch better soon or they might need to go with someone else in the rotation.

The Colorado Rockies had another poor week

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Weekly Results by chinmusic on Wednesday 23 May 2007 at 9:55 pm

The Rockies went 2-4 last week as they were outscored 28-19.  The Rockies all went cold at the same time with the bats and that hurt them big-time last week.  The Rockies entered this week with a 18-26 record, which has them in last place in the National League West….7 games behind the Dodgers.

Jamey Carroll is awful so far this season for the Colorado Rockies

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,In Need of a Slumpbuster by chinmusic on Monday 21 May 2007 at 11:06 pm

The Rockies signed Jamey Carroll to a nice contract after his good season last year for the Rockies.  But, Carroll is proving so far that he isn’t worth the money that the Rockies have given him.  In 35 games this season, Carroll is 16 for 89 (.180 avg, .507 OPS) and he’s scored 12 runs, has 3 RBIs and has stolen 2 bases.  If Carroll doesn’t start to hit soon, he will be sitting on the bench a lot this season.

Matt Holliday staying hot with the bat for the Colorado Rockies

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Playing Well by chinmusic on Tuesday 15 May 2007 at 12:28 pm

Matt Holliday has been hot with the bat all season long but he’s turning up the power as of late.  In his last 5 games, Holliday is 7 for 19 (.368 avg, 1.505 OPS) with 4 runs scored, 3 homers and 5 RBIs.  Look for Holliday to keep rolling along with his bat because he’s just too good to have any extended slumps.

The Colorado Rockies have another sub-par week

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Weekly Results by chinmusic on Monday 14 May 2007 at 3:46 pm

The Rockies were 3-4 last week as they were outscored 43-22.  The Rockies were lucky to win three games last week because they didn’t hit or pitch well.  The Rockies enter this week with a 16-22 record which is good for last place in the N.L. West, 7 games behind the Dodgers.

The Colorado Rockies acquire Jorge Julio from the Marlins for Byung-Hyun Kim

Blogged under Arrivals & Departures,Bloglockers,Front Page by chinmusic on Sunday 13 May 2007 at 11:12 pm

The Rockies have been looking to unload Byung-Hyun Kim for a while now and they finally found a trading partner in the Florida Marlins.  Julio will likely work late in the bullpen for the Rockies despite the problems he’s had so far this season with the Marlins.  Julio has pitched in 10 games this season for the Marlins and he’s 0-2 with a 12.54 ERA and a 3.11 WHIP.  In 9.1 innings, Julio has allowed 18 hits, 2 homers, hit 2 batters, walked 11 and struck out 6.  Look for the Rockies to try to get Julio to work out the kinks because he still has a great pitching arm.
