Colorado Rockies 10, Philadelphia Phillies 5

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, The Playoffs by chinmusic on Thursday 4 October 2007 at 7:25 pm

The Rockies dominated the Phillies earlier today.  They took it to them in the first inning as Troy Tulowitzki and Matt Holliday jacked back to back homers off Phillies’ starter Kyle Kendrick.  But the real star of this game was Kazuo Matsui who was awesome with a bat in his hands.  He was 3 for 5 with 2 runs scored and 5 RBIs.  He hit a double, a triple and a back breaking grand slam!  Troy Tulowitzki batted right behind Matsui in the order and he was 2 for 5 with 1 run scored a 1 RBI.  Both of his hits were for extra bases as he hit a double and a homer.  Matt Holliday stayed on fire as he was 2 for 5 with 1 run, a homer and 2 RBIs.  The quiet assassin at the bottom of the order was catcher Yorvit Torrealb who was 1 for 3 with a double, 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs.

Rookie Franklin Morales started this game but he didn’t last long.  He pitched only 3 innings and he allowed 3 hits, 3 earned runs, walked 2 batters and whiffed 3.  Josh Fogg followed Morales into the game and he was the winning pitcher as he worked 2 shutout innings only allowing 1 hit.  Manny Corpas finished up the game as he earned another save.  He came into the game in the 8th inning after Brian Fuentes loaded the bases.  He got out of that jam before finishing up in the 9th inning.  He worked 1.1 innings and he allowed 2 hits and whiffed 1 batter.

The Rockies lead the Phillies 2-0 in this series as it shifts to Colorado.
