Colorado Rockies 3, Arizona Diamondbacks 2

The Rockies kept up with their hot playing last night as they defeated the D-Backs in 11 innings.  What really must hurt the D-Backs is the fact that the Rockies beat Jose Valverde who has been lights out this whole season.  Willy Taveras was 1 for 4 with 1 run scored, 1 RBI, a double and 2 walks.  His second walk was in the 11th inning with the bases loaded as he drove in Ryan Spilboroghs who had a pinch hit single to start the inning.

Starting pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez was good again last night as he worked the first 5 innings and he allowed 5 hits, 1 earned run, walked 4 batters and whiffed 6.  Matt Herges, LaTroy Hawkins and Brian Fuentes followed Jimenez and they worked 3 scoreless innings allowing 3 hits while striking out 3.  Manny Corpas blew the save in the 9th inning but he was the winning pitcher.  He threw 2 innings and he allowed 1 hit, 1 earned run and whiffed 2 batters.  Ryan Speier pitched a scoreless inning in the 11th inning to earn the save.  The Rockies are up 2-0 over the Diamondbacks as the series shifts to Coors Field.

Rockies are on a roll! I figure they were either never told what they are doing is statistically impossible or the lack of oxygen at their home altitude does not allow their brains to registar they are making history!

The Rockies have been simply amazing Mitch. They only need 4 more wins to be World Champs but the next team they play will be the best one they have played all season long. It will be a great World Series.
