The Colorado Rockies place Matt Herges on the D.L.

The Colorado Rockies have placed righty reliever Matt Herges on the 15-day disabled list with lower back stiffness. Herges has pitched in 51 games (0 starts) for the Rockies this season and he is 3-4 with a 5.09 ERA and a 1.56 WHIP. The Rockies have recalled righty reliever Ryan Speier to replace Herges in the bullpen. Speier has pitched in 30 games for the Rockies this season (all in relief) and he is 1-1 with a 4.66 ERA and a 1.42 WHIP. Speier is probably a better pitcher than Herges right now so Herges getting dinged up might wind up being a good thing for the Rockies’ bullpen.

The Colorado Rockies are a Major League Baseball team based in Denver, Colorado. Established in 1993, the Rockies play in the West Division of the National League. The team is named after the Rocky Mountains, which pass through Colorado, just west of Denver. The Rockies play their home games at Coors Field in downtown Denver.
