The Colorado Rockies bring back infielder Luis Gonzalez
The Rockies have signed 29-year old righty swinging infielder Luis Gonzalez to a minor league deal. He played in 32 games in Japan last year and he was 35 for 114 (.307 avg, .778 OPS) with 15 runs scored, 2 homers and 17 RBIs. Gonzalez was suspended last season in Japan for violating the league’s drug policy. Gonzalez has played in 291 games in his major league career and he is 248 for 875 (.283 avg, .748 OPS) with 100 runs scored, 23 homers and 98 RBIs. This was a good low risk/high reward signing for the Rockies as Gonzalez has played well for them in the past.
