The Rockies have signed 27-year old switch hitter Dan Ortmeier to a minor league deal. He played in 38 games for the Giants last season and he was 14 for 64 (.219 avg, .628 OPS) with 4 runs scored, 5 RBIs and 2 stolen bases. He has now played in 124 games in his major league career and he is 65 for 255 (.255 avg, .721 OPS) with 25 runs scored, 6 homers, 24 RBIs and 5 stolen bases. The Rockies have lost some outfield depth this off season so Ortmeier might have a decent shot of making the team out of spring training.
