The Rockies added to the pitching staff but it cost them their best hitter in Matt Holliday. The Rockies will have a hard time replacing Holliday’s bat but newcomers Carlos Gonzalez and Matt Murton will get chances in spring training to try to win the LF job. The Rockies brought in some reinforcements for the starting rotation knowing that Jeff Francis might need surgery soon. Lefty Greg Smith and veteran righties Jason Marquis, Matt Belisle and Josh Fogg have been brought in to compete for rotation spots. The bullpen has lost closer Brian Fuentes but they have added Huston Street and lefty Alan Embree which should more than off set the loss.
