The Colorado Rockies sign outfielder Lew Ford
The Rockies have signed 32-year old righty swinging outfielder Lew Ford to a minor league deal. Ford played in 47 games in Japan last season and he was 29 for 129 (.225 avg, .656 OPS) with 11 runs scored, 3 homers and 11 RBIs. Ford last played in the majors in 2007 with the Minnesota Twins. He has played in 494 games in the majors in his career and he is 412 for 1,514 (.272 avg, .751 OPS) with 228 runs scored, 32 homers, 172 RBIs and 47 stolen bases. This was a good signing for the Rockies as Ford could help them later in 2009.
