The Rockies need to win the last two games of the year against the Dodgers to win the N.L. West or they will be the Wild Card. Tonight it will be Jorge De La Rosa for the Rockies vs. Clayton Kershaw of the Dodgers. De La Rosa has pitched in 32 games (31 starts) for the Rockies this season and he is 16-9 with a 4.45 ERA and a 1.40 WHIP. But, De La Rosa has not pitched well against the Dodgers this season. He has started 3 games vs. the Dodgers this season and he is 0-2 with a 5.74 ERA and a 1.91 WHIP. Clayton Kershaw is still literally a kid at 21 years old but he doesn’t pitch like one. He has pitched in 30 games (29 starts) for the Dodgers this season and he is 8-8 with a 2.89 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP. But, he hasn’t been nearly as good against the Rockies. He has started 4 games against the Rockies this year and he is 1-1 with a 5.73 ERA and a 1.41 WHIP. Tomorrow will be a matchup up veteran pitchers pitting Jason Marquis against Vincente Padilla. Marquis has started 32 games for the Rockies this season and he is 15-12 with a 3.95 ERA and a 1.36 WHIP. But he has saved his best work for the Dodgers as he has started 2 games against them in which he is 2-0 with a 1.65 ERA and a 0.73 WHIP. Vicente Padilla has pitched in 7 games (6 starts) for the Dodgers this year and he is 3-0 with a 3.41 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP. Padilla has started 1 game against the Rockies and he is 1-0 with a 3.60 ERA and a 1.40 WHIP. It would be nice to win the National League West but at least the Rockies know they are still in the playoffs whether they win the next two games or not.
