Lefty Jorge De La Rosa has been left off the roster for the first round of the playoffs due to a groin injury. He pitched in 33 games (32 starts)for the Rockies this season and he was 16-9 with a 4.38 ERA and a 1.38 WHIP. They will miss him as the Phillies’ lineup has a lot of good lefty swinging hitters. Young Ubaldo Jimenez will be the #1 starter for the Rockies this post season. He takes no-hit stuff to the pitching mound but he has control issues and that could spell trouble against the Phillies. He started 33 games for the Rockies this season and he was 15-12 with a 3.47 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP. Jimenez has started 3 games in his post season career and he is 0-1 with a 2.25 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP. Righty Aaron Cook will be the #2 guy in the rotation. He started 27 games for the Rockies this season and he was 11-6 with a 4.16 ERA and a 1.41 WHIP. Cook has started 1 game in his post season career and he was 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP. Jason Hammel will be the #3 starter which was a surprise pick over 15-game winner Jason Marquis. Hammel pitched in 34 games (30 starts) for the Rockies this season and he was 10-8 with a 4.33 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP. He doesn’t have any post season experience. Jason Marquis will work in long relief for the Rockies in the first round but if they move on to the 2nd round he could get back into the rotation. He started 33 games for the Rockies this season and he was 15-13 with a 4.04 ERA and a 1.38 WHIP. He has pitched in 10 games (3 starts) in his post season career and he is 0-2 with a 4.76 ERA and a 1.85 WHIP.
