The Rockies have signed 33-year old lefty starter/reliever Damian Moss to a minor league deal. Moss pitched in 59 games (4 starts) in AAA-ball last season and he was 8-3 with a 3.30 ERA and a 1.76 WHIP. Moss last pitched in the majors in 2004 with the Rays. He has pitched in 74 games (61 starts) in his major league career and he is 22-19 with a 4.50 ERA and a 1.48 WHIP. Moss has good enough stuff to pitch in the majors as he has only given up 340 hits in 361 2/3 innings in the show but he has walked 195 batters which is the biggest reason he is back pitching in AAA.

Damian Moss had a good 2009 and I felt he was worthy of a call-up to the Major Leagues. It’s great to still see him in the game! A weaker person would have given up by now, but Moss has hung in their, and if given the chance at the Major League level he would make the Rockies proud!

I noticed Aussie Shane Lindsay in Rockies Spring Training too. To date no Aussie has played MLB with the Rockies, I would love to see either Moss or Lindsay be the first. Apologies for my typo above “but Moss has hung in their (sic)” …”there” is what I meant. The Rockies also have Aussie Adam Bright at AA level. Thank you for investing in Aussie baseball resources!
