The Rockies have placed starting RF Brad Hawpe on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left quadriceps. Hawpe was off to a good start to the 2010 season. He has played in 15 games for the Rockies this season and he is 15 for 42 (.357 avg, 1.714 OPS) with 8 runs scored, 3 homers and 7 RBIs. The Rockies have recalled 2B/OF Eric Young to replace Hawpe on the active roster. Young has played in 15 games in AAA-ball so far this season and he is 13 for 57 (.228 avg, .600 OPS) with 9 runs scored, 1 homer, 1 RBI and 3 stolen bases. He will provide the Rockies with speed off the bench. Ryan Spilborghs, Seth Smith and Melvin Mora will probably all get some P.T. in RF while Hawpe is out of action so the Rockies are still in good shape.
