The Colorado Rockies claim 1B/3B Wes Hodges off waivers from the Indians
The Rockies have claimed 25-year old righty swinging 1B/3B Wes Hodges off waivers from the Indians. Hodges came into this season as the Tribe’s #27 rated prospect according to Baseball America. Hodges played in 94 games in AAA-ball this season and he is 99 of 366 (.270 avg, .739 OPS) with 51 runs scored, 9 homers and 47 RBIs. He has now played in 422 games in his four years in the minors and he is 450 of 1,605 (.280 avg, .783 OPS) with 215 runs scored, 47 homers, 255 RBIs and 13 stolen bases. This was a good move for the Rockies as Hodges has a nice upside and they can cut him if they don’t like what they see.
UPDATE: (8/5/2010) - The Rockies tried to pass Hodges through waivers so they could send him to AAA but the Indians re-claimed him.
