The Rockies have acquired 27-year old switch hitting catcher Jose Morales from the Twins for 21-year old lefty reliever Paul Bargas. Morales played in 19 games for the Twins last season and he was 7 of 36 (.194 avg, .545 OPS) with 4 runs scored and 7 RBIs. He has now played in 74 games in his first three years in the majors and he is 47 of 158 (.297 avg, .725 OPS) with 19 runs scored and 14 RBIs. Bargas pitched in 58 games (0 starts) in A-ball last season and he was 5-4 with 5 saves, a 3.59 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP. He pitched in 77 games (1 start) in his first two years in the minors with the Rockies and he was 8-5 with 7 saves, a 3.12 ERA and a 1.03 WHIP. The Rockies paid a decent price to land a good hitting catcher to team with Chris Iannetta in 2011.
