The Colorado Rockies have placed Dexter Fowler on the D.L.
The Rockies have placed 25-year old switch-hitting CF Dexter Fowler on the 15-day disabled list due to a left abdominal strain. Fowler has played in 57 games for the Rockies so far this year and he is 50 for 210 (.238 avg, .688 OPS) with 33 runs scored, 0 homers, 18 RBIs and 2 stolen bases. The Rockies have called up 24-year old lefty swinging CF Charlie Blackmon to replace Fowler on the active roster. Blackmon has played in 58 games in AAA-ball so far this year and he is 82 for 243 (.337 avg, .965 OPS) with 49 runs scored, 10 homers, 49 RBIs and 12 stolen bases. Blackmon has now played in 345 games in his first four years in the minors and he is 449 for 1,420 (.316 avg, .851 OPS) with 231 runs scored, 30 homers, 206 RBIs and 74 stolen bases. The Rockies will likely stick Blackmon right into the starting lineup as he came into this season as the Rockies’ #11 prospect according to Baseball America.
