The Colorado Rockies have claimed Josh Roenicke on waivers from the Blue Jays

Blogged under Arrivals & Departures,Bloglockers,Front Page,General by chinmusic on Friday 3 June 2011 at 2:23 pm

The Rockies have claimed 28-year old righty reliever Josh Roenicke off waivers from the Blue Jays. Roenicke has pitched in 16 games in AAA-ball for the Blue Jays this year and he was 1-3 with a 6.04 ERA and a 1.79 WHIP. He last pitched in the majors with the Blue Jays last year. Roenicke has pitched in 45 games (0 starts) in his first three years in the majors and he is 1-0 with a 5.60 ERA and a 1.64 WHIP. He has whiffed 57 batters in his first 53 innings in the majors, so he does have a good arm, but he has also walked 31 batters which is way too many. Despite limited success in the majors, Roenicke does have talent so I like this pickup for the Rockies.
