The Rockies have placed 25-year old lefty swinging rookie outfielder Charles Blackmon on the 15-day disabled list with a fractured left foot that’s expected to cause him to miss the next 6-8 weeks. Blackmon has played in 27 games for the Rockies so far this year and he is 25 for 98 (.255 avg, .573 OPS) with 9 runs scored, 1 homer, 8 RBIs and 5 stolen bases. The Rockies have called up 26-year old righty swinging outfielder Cole Garner to replace Blackmon on the active roster. Garner came into this season as the Rockies’ #22 prospect. Garner has played in 36 games in AAA-ball this year and he is 51 for 150 (.340 avg, .942 OPS) with 32 runs scored, 7 homers, 29 RBIs and 3 stolen bases. He has now played in 591 games in his first 7 years in the minors and he is 629 for 2,201 (.286 avg, .822 OPS) with 378 runs scored, 75 homers, 340 RBIs and 75 stolen bases.
