The Rockies and 40-year old lefty swinging 1B Jason Giambi have agreed to pick up his mutual option for 2012, valued at $1 million bucks. Giambi played in 64 games for the Rockies last year and he was 34 for 131 (.260 avg, .958 OPS) with 20 runs scored, 13 homers and 32 RBIs. Giambi has now played in 170 games in his first three years with the Rockies and he is 84 for 331 (.254 avg, .868 OPS) with 41 runs scored, 21 homers, 78 RBIs and 2 stolen bases. Giambi has been a lethal bat off the bench for the Rockies in his time in Denver, so they were very smart to bring him back for another year.
