The Colorado Rockies sign Brandon Wood
The Rockies have signed 26-year old righty swinging infielder Brandon Wood to a minor league deal. Wood played in 105 games for the Angels & Pirates last year and he was 54 for 250 (.216 avg, .610 OPS) with 26 runs scored, 7 homers and 31 RBIs. He has now played in 272 games in his first five years in the majors and he is 130 for 700 (.186 avg, .513 OPS) with 65 runs scored, 18 homers, 64 RBIs and 5 stolen bases. Wood has whiffed a stunning 218 times while only walking 32 times so far in his career. The Rockies are just taking a flier on Wood, who was one of the best prospects in all of baseball not too long ago.
