The Rockies have signed 31-year old righty reliever Brian Anderson to a minor league deal. He pitched in 7 games in AA-ball for the Yankees last year and he was 1-0 with a 1.17 ERA and a 1.04 WHIP. Anderson has now pitched in 21 games (4 starts) in his first two years in the minors and he is 1-0 with a 1.80 ERA and a 0.92 WHIP. He has only given up 17 hits and 6 walks in his first 25 innings in the minors, while whiffing 26 batters. Those are pretty impressive numbers for a guy who was a major league outfielder until 2010 with the Boston Red Sox. It was worth taking a flier on Anderson.
