The Colorado Rockies sign Tyler Johnson
The Rockies have signed 30-year old lefty reliever Tyler Johnson to a minor league deal. Johnson last pitched in the majors way back in 2007 with the St. Louis Cardinals. Johnson has pitched in 116 games (0 starts) in his first three years in the majors and he is 3-5 with a 4.32 ERA and a 1.42 WHIP. Johnson has only given up 67 hits and he has whiffed 65 batters in his first 77 innings in the majors, so he had good stuff. But, he also walked 42 batters. Johnson will need to tighten up his control if he’s going to get back to the majors with the Rockies.
