The Rockies have placed 27-year old righty swinging SS Troy Tulowitzki on the 15-day disabled list due to a strained left groin. Tulowitzki has played in 47 games for the Rockies so far this year and he is 52 for 181 (.287 avg, .846 OPS) with 33 runs scored, 8 homers, 27 RBIs and 2 stolen bases. He has now played in 744 games in his first seven years with the Rockies and he is 822 for 2,813 (.292 avg, .868 OPS) with 471 runs scored, 130 homers, 470 RBIs and 53 stolen bases. Marco Scutaro will likely move from 2B to SS until Tulowitzki returns to action. The Rockies are praying that Tulo will only miss a couple of weeks.
UPDATE: (6/21/2012) – Troy Tulowitzki is going to miss the next 8 weeks as he recovers from arthroscopic surgery to his groin. This is a big blow to the Rockies.
