27-year old righty swinging 1B/OF Matt McBride was essentially thought of as little more than a throw in last July in the Ubaldo Jimenez deal with the Indians, but he’s swinging a hot stick in AAA-ball so far this year. McBride has played in 53 games in AAA-ball so far this year and he is 76 for 209 (.364 avg, .963 OPS) with 33 runs scored, 5 homers and 36 RBIs. He has now played in 615 games in his first seven years in the minors and he is 669 for 2,316 (.289 avg, .823 OPS) with 352 runs scored, 74 homers, 387 RBIs and 13 stolen bases. McBride might get his first shot at the show later this year for the Rockies.
