The Rockies have placed 38-year old lefty swinging 1B Todd Helton on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 9th, due to right hip inflammation. Helton has played in 63 games for the Rockies so far this year and he is 52 of 221 (.235 avg, .730 OPS) with 29 runs scored, 7 homers, 34 RBIs and 1 stolen base. Helton’s injury will open the door for the Rockies to play Tyler Colvin every day while he’s out of action. He better get well soon or he might not have a starting job when he gets back.
