23-year old righty swinging SS Josh Rutledge came into this season as the Rockies’ #10 prospect according to Baseball America. He has now taken over at SS with Troy Tulowitzki out due to groin surgery. Rutledge has played in 12 games for the Rockies so far this year and he is 16 for 45 (.356 avg, .997 OPS) with 6 runs scored, 1 homer, 6 RBIs and 3 stolen bases. He played in 87 games earlier this year in AA-ball for the Rockies in which he was 109 of 356 (.306 avg, .846 OPS) with 57 runs scored, 13 homers, 35 RBIs and 14 stolen bases. Rutledge has played 2B in the minors, so he could earn a shot to start at 2B for the Rockies in 2013, if he continues to play well this year.
