The Colorado Rockies deal Marco Scutaro to the Giants
The Colorado Rockies have dealt 36-year old righty swinging 2B Marco Scutaro and cash to the San Francisco Giants for 23-year old righty swinging 2B Charlie Culberson. Culberson came into this season as the Giants’ #11 prospect according to Baseball America. He played in 6 games earlier this year for the Giants and he was 3 for 22 (.136 avg, .273 OPS) with 1 RBI. He also played in 91 games in AAA-ball for the Giants this year and he was 83 of 351 (.236 avg, .679 OPS) with 53 runs scored, 10 homers, 53 RBIs and 8 stolen bases. He might get a shot to replace Scutaro as the Rockies’ starting 2B right away. Scutaro played in 94 games for the Rockies this year and he was 101 of 373 (.271 avg, .684 OPS) with 47 runs scored, 4 homers, 30 RBIs and 7 stolen bases. The Rockies got pretty good value for Scutaro.
