Nieves has now played in 298 games in his first 9 years in the majors and he is 180 of 798 (.226 avg, .568 OPS) with 58 runs scored, 6 homers, 78 RBIs and 2 stolen bases. The Rockies probably would like to keep Nieves around if he clears waivers and is willing to accept a outright assignment to the minors, just in case they find a taker on the trade market for Ramon Hernandez.
