The Colorado Rockies have placed 29-year old lefty starting pitcher Jonathan Sanchez on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 4th due to left biceps tendinitis. Sanchez pitched in 3 games (all starts) for the Rockies so far and he is 0-3 with a 9.53 ERA and a 2.29 WHIP. He has given up 17 hits (3 homers) and he has walked 9 batters in his first 11 1/3 innings with the Rockies while whiffing 9 batters. The change of scenery has not helped Sanchez so far. The Rockies have called up 22-year old righty Tyler Chatwood to replace Sanchez in the starting rotation. Chatwood pitched in 7 games (0 starts) earlier this year for the Rockies and he was 1-1 with 1 save, a 7.62 ERA and a 2.00 WHIP. He has also pitched in 13 games (all starts) in AA+AAA-ball so far this year in which he is 1-3 with a 4.70 ERA and a 1.55 WHIP. The Rockies hope that Chatwood will be better for them this time around.
