Helton has now played in 2,123 games in his first 16 years with the Rockies and he is 2,420 of 7,565 (.320 avg, .964 OPS) with 1,360 runs scored, 354 homers, 1,435 RBIs and 37 stolen bases. 27-year old lefty swinging Tyler Colvin is likely Helton’s biggest challenger this spring at 1B. Colvin played in 136 games for the Rockies last year and he was 122 of 420 (.290 avg, .858 OPS) with 62 runs scored, 18 homers, 72 RBIs and 7 stolen bases. Colvin played in 31 games (18 starts) at 1B for the Rockies last year and he had 2 errors. Colvin has now played in 357 games in his first four years in the majors and he is 247 of 1,001 (.247 avg, .763 OPS) with 140 runs scored, 44 homers, 150 RBIs and 13 stolen bases. 27-year old righty swinging Jordan Pacheco and 34-year old righty swinging Michael Cuddyer can also play 1B for the Rockies if needed. Pacheco played in 43 games (35 starts) at 1B last year and he had 4 errors. His main position last year was 3B. Michael Cuddyer played in 26 games (24 starts) for the Rockies at 1B last year and he had 2 errors. Cuddyer does most of his work in RF for the Rockies.
