The Rockies have placed 24-year old lefty starting pitcher Drew Pomeranz on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 23rd, due to left biceps tendinitis. Pomeranz has pitched in 4 games (all starts) for the Rockies so far this year and he is 0-4 with a 8.10 ERA and a 2.52 WHIP. He has given up 24 hits (4 homers) and 18 walks while whiffing 13 batters in his first 16 2/3 innings this year, as he has been a big mess. The Rockies will call up 26-year old righty starting pitcher Collin McHugh to replace Pomeranz in the starting rotation. McHugh has pitched in 5 games (all starts) in AA+AAA-ball for the Rockies this year and he is 2-1 with a 2.40 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP. He also pitched in 3 games (1 start) earlier this year for the Mets in which he was 0-1 with a 10.29 ERA and a 2.14 WHIP.
