The Colorado Rockies have designated 29-year old switch-hitting IF/OF Rafael Ynoa for assignment.  Ynoa played in 3 games for the Rockies last year and he was 0 for 5 (.000 avg, .000 OPS).  He also played in 121 games in AAA-ball for the Rockies this year and he was 126 of 481 (.262 avg, .682 OPS) with 65 runs scored, 3 homers, 33 RBI and 7 stolen bases.  Ynoa played in 94 games in his three years with the Rockies and he was 56 of 199 (.281 avg, .678 OPS) with 19 runs scored, 0 homers, 22 RBI and 1 stolen base.

UPDATE:  (9/9/2016) – The Rockies have outrighted Rafael Ynoa.

The Colorado Rockies activate Mark Reynolds from the D.L.

The Colorado Rockies have activated 33-year old righty swinging 1B Mark Reynolds from the D.L.  Reynolds has played in 106 games for the Rockies so far this year and he is 102 of 361 (.283 avg, .800 OPS) with 57 runs scored, 12 homers, 50 RBI and 1 stolen base.  He really likes hitting at Coors Field.  Reynolds has played in 54 games at Coors Field so far this year and he is 59 of 189 (.312 avg, .874 OPS) with 33 runs scored, 7 homers, 31 RBI and 1 stolen base.

The Colorado Rockies send Ben Paulsen to AAA

The Colorado Rockies have sent 28-year old lefty swinging 1B Ben Paulsen to AAA.  Paulsen has played in 39 games for the Rockies so far this year and he is 20 for 92 (.217 avg, .562 OPS) with 8 runs scored, 1 homer and 11 RBI.  The Rockies will likely go with a platoon at 1B with 29-year old lefty swinging Gerardo Parra and 35-year old righty swinging Ryan Raburn for now.  Parra has played in 80 games for the Rockies so far this year and he is 78 of 304 (.257 avg, .666 OPS) with 36 runs scored, 5 homers, 32 RBI and 6 stolen bases.  Raburn has played in 97 games for the Rockies so far this year and he is 45 of 199 (.226 avg, .724 OPS) with 25 runs scored, 8 homers and 28 RBI.

The Colorado Rockies have released 28-year old lefty reliever Jason Gurka.  Gurka pitched in 6 games (0 starts) earlier this year for the Rockies and he was 0-0 with a 9.31 ERA and a 1.86 WHIP.  He also pitched in 18 games (0 starts) in AAA-ball for the Rockies this year in which he is 0-1 with 4 saves, a 1.69 ERA and a 1.45 WHIP.  Gurka pitched in 15 games (0 starts) in his two years with the Rockies and he was 0-0 with a 9.35 ERA and a 2.08 WHIP.  This isn’t much of a loss moving ahead for the Colorado Rockies.

The Colorado Rockies place Tyler Chatwood on the D.L.

The Colorado Rockies have placed 26-year old righty starting pitcher Tyler Chatwood on the 15-day disabled list due to an upper back injury.  Chatwood has pitched in 22 games (all starts) for the Rockies so far this year and he is 10-8 with a 3.75 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP.  He has given up 119 hits and 58 walks while whiffing 88 batters in his first 127 1/3 innings so far this year for the R0ckies.  The Rockies have called up 28-year old righty reliever/starter Christian Bergman to replace Chatwood on the active roster.  Bergman has pitched in 9 games (1 start) for the Rockies so far this year and he is 1-3 with a 5.89 ERA and a 1.58 WHIP.  He has now pitched in 49 games (15 starts) in his first three years with the Rockies and he is 7-9 with a 5.35 ERA and a 1.49 WHIP.  The Rockies hope that Chatwood only misses a couple of weeks, as he has been their best starting pitcher so far this year.

The Colorado Rockies have placed 33-year old righty swinging 1B Mark Reynolds on the 15-day disabled list due to a hamate bone injury (hand).  Reynolds has played in 106 games for the Rockies so far this year and he is 102 of 361 (.283 avg, .800 OPS) with 57 runs scored, 12 homers, 50 RBIs and 1 stolen base.  The Rockies have called up 28-year old lefty swinging 1B Ben Paulsen to replace Reynolds on the active roster and at first base.  Paulsen played in 29 games earlier this year for the Rockies and he was 17 of 66 (.258 avg, .679 OPS) with 6 runs scored, 1 homer and 10 RBIs.  He has now played in 176 games in his first three years with the Rockies and he is 127 of 454 (.280 avg, .790 OPS) with 56 runs scored, 16 homers, 69 RBIs and 1 stolen base.

UPDATE:  (8/16/2016) – Reynolds will miss the next 4-8 weeks after having surgery on his hand yesterday.  That pretty much ends his season.

The Colorado Rockies call up Matt Carasiti

The Colorado Rockies have called up 25-year old righty reliever Matt Carasiti to replace Gonzalez Germen in the bullpen.  Carasiti pitched in 44 games (0 starts) in AA+AAA-ball for the Rockies so far this year and he was 0-2 with 31 saves, a 1.96 ERA and a 0.85 WHIP.  He has given up 30 hits and 9 walks while whiffing 48 batters in his first 46 innings in the minors this year.  He has pitched in 173 games (34 starts) in his first five years in the minors and he is 14-25 with 55 saves, a 4.50 ERA and a 1.45 WHIP.  This is Carasiti’s first shot at pitching in the show.

The Colorado Rockies have designated 28-year old righty reliever Gonzalez Germen.  Germen pitched in 40 games (0 starts) for the Rockies this year and he was 2-1 with 1 save, a 5.32 ERA and a 1.62 WHIP.  He gave up 41 hits and 25 walks while whiffing 32 batters in his 40 2/3 innings this year for the Rockies.  Germen pitched in 69 games (1 start) in his two years with the Rockies and he was 2-1 with 2 saves, a 4.66 ERA and a 1.64 WHIP.

UPDATE:  (8/16/2016) – The Rockies have outrighted Gonzalez Germen to AAA.

The Colorado Rockies activate Gerardo Parra off the D.L.

The Colorado Rockies have activated 29-year old lefty swinging outfielder Gerardo Parra off of the D.L.  Parra has played in 63 games for the Rockies so far this year and he is 64 of 243 (.263 avg, .698 OPS) with 32 runs scored, 5 homers, 27 RBIs and 6 stolen bases.  The Rockies signed Parra to a 3-year, $27.5 million dollar deal last winter to start for them along with Carlos Gonzalez and Charlie Blackmon in the outfield.  While Parra was on the D.L., the Rockies called up their #2 prospect coming into this year according to Baseball America, David Dahl.  Dahl has played in 12 games for the Rockies so far this year and he is 19 of 50 (.380 avg, 1.024 OPS) with 12 runs scored, 3 homers and 7 RBIs.  Parra might become the highest paid #4 outfielder in all of baseball.

The Colorado Rockies have called up 28-year old switch-hitting infielder Rafael Ynoa to replace Trevor Story on the active roster.  Ynoa played in 94 games in AAA-ball for the Rockies this year and he was 102 of 384 (.266 avg, .690 OPS) with 49 runs scored, 2 homers, 27 RBIs and 5 stolen bases.  He has played in 91 games in parts of two years for the Rockies so far in his career and he is 56 of 194 (.289 avg, .695 OPS) with 19 runs scored, 0 homers, 22 RBIs and 1 stolen base.

UPDATE:  (8/7/2016) – The Rockies have sent Rafael Ynoa back to AAA.  Ynoa played in 3 games for the Rockies this time around and he was 0 for 5 (.000 avg, .000 OPS) with 2 whiffs.
