Major League Baseball has announced that 32-year old switch-hitting SS Jose Reyes will be suspended through May 31st due to his involvement in a domestic dispute with his wife during the off-season. Reyes played in 47 games for the Rockies last year after coming over in the Troy Tulowitzki deal with the Blue Jays and he was 50 for 193 (.259 avg, .659 OPS) with 21 runs scored, 3 homers, 19 RBIs and 8 stolen bases. Reyes has now played in 1,562 games in his first 13 years in the show and he is 1,904 of 6,568 (.290 avg, .770 OPS) with 1,030 runs scored, 118 homers, 621 RBIs and 479 stolen bases. He also has an amazing 117 triples so far in his MLB career. Reyes is a 4-time All-Star and he has won a Silver Slugger Award in his career. But, Reyes blew it when he got suspended as it opened the door for 23-year old righty swinging rookie SS Trevor Story and he kicked the door down. Story has played in 33 games for the Rockies so far this year and he is 37 of 139 (.266 avg, .924 OPS) with 24 runs scored, 7 doubles, 3 triples, 11 homers, 27 RBIs and 3 stolen bases. I have doubts that Reyes will ever play for the Rockies again, as other teams have been calling about dealing for him already.
