30-year old lefty swinging outfielder Carlos Gonzalez of the Colorado Rockies has been selected to the All Star team for the 3rd time in his career.  Gonzalez has played in 85 games for the Rockies so far this year and he is 107 of 336 (.318 avg, .924 OPS) with 58 runs scored, 19 homers, 54 RBIs and 2 stolen bases.  He has now played in 999 games in his first 9 years in the show and he is 1,085 of 3,707 (.293 avg, .875 OPS) with 628 runs scored, 195 homers, 608 RBIs and 114 stolen bases.  Gonzalez is going to appeal to a lot of buyers in the trade market later this month, so this might be his last All Star Game as a member of the Colorado Rockies.

Nolan Arenado of the Colorado Rockies is an All Star

25-year old righty swinging 3B Nolan Arenado of the Colorado Rockies has been selected to the All Star team for the second time in his career.  Arenado has played in 87 games for the Rockies so far this year and he is 98 of 342 (.287 avg, .930 OPS) with 60 runs scored, 23 homers, a N.L. leading 70 RBIs and 1 stolen base.  Arenado has now played in 488 games in his first four years with the Rockies and he is 529 of 1,876 (.282 avg, .838 OPS) with 264 runs scored, 93 homers, 313 RBIs and 7 stolen bases.  Arenado is just getting started and I think he is going to be an All-Star many more times before his career is over!

Trevor Story is the real deal for the Colorado Rockies

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Playing Well by joelapinski on Tuesday 5 July 2016 at 11:50 am

23-year old righty swinging SS Trevor Story is the real deal for the Colorado Rockies.  He has played in 75 games for the Rockies so far this year and he is 78 of 296 (.264 avg, .876 OPS) with 47 runs scored, 19 homers, 50 RBIs and 5 stolen bases.  He is second on the Rockies in homers, third on the team in RBIs and he is tied for fourth on the team in runs scored.  Story does have some holes in his swing, as he has whiffed a National League leading 106 times so far this year.  Story hits for a higher average at Coors Field (.280) than he does on the road (.247), but he has hit more homers on the road (11) than at home (8) which really impresses the heck out of me.  I think Story is going to have a long and very productive career with the Colorado Rockies and it’s just beginning in 2016.

27-year old righty swinging D.J. 35-year old righty swinging outfielder Ryan Raburn is crushing the baseball so far this year for the Colorado Rockies.  He has played in 20 games for the Rockies so far this year and he is 13 of 36 (.361 avg, 1.220 OPS) with 7 runs scored, 4 homers and 8 RBIs.  Raburn has a reputation for crushing lefty pitches and he is living up to that so far this year.  He is 6 for 15 (.400 avg, 1.633 OPS) with 5 runs scored, 3 homers and 6 RBIs against them so far this year.  The Rockies need to find some more ABs for Raburn moving forward.

The Colorado Rockies are getting good work from their 1B

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Playing Well by joelapinski on Thursday 28 April 2016 at 7:27 am

32-year old righty swinging Mark Reynolds and 28-year old lefty swinging Ben Paulsen are giving the Colorado Rockies a lot of production at 1B so far in 2016.  Reynolds has played in 18 games for the Rockies so far this year and he is 14 of 47 (.298 avg, .868 OPS) with 8 runs scored, 1 homer and 5 RBIs.  He was whiffed 18 times already this year, but what you see is what you get with Reynolds…..a lot of power along with a ton of whiffs.  Paulsen has played in 18 games for the Rockies so far this year and he is 14 of 43 (.326 avg, .895 OPS) with 5 runs scored, 1 homer and 9 RBIs.  He has whiffed 13 times so far this year, but the Rockies will put up with it as long as he is raking at the plate.
