35-year old righty swinging outfielder Ryan Raburn is making the most of the playing time he has been getting for the Colorado Rockies so far in 2016.  He has played in 33 games for the Rockies so far this year and he is 18 of 60 (.300 avg, 984 OPS) with 9 runs scored, 5 homers and 12 RBIs.  He has had 18 appearances as a pinch hitter so far this year and he is 5 for 16 (.313 avg, 1.076 OPS) with 2 runs scored, 2 homers, 4 RBIs and 2 walks!  The Rockies should find a way to get Raburn some more ABs moving forward.

27-year old righty swinging D.J. LeMahieu is never talked about when people talk about the better 2B in all of baseball, but he should be.  LeMahieu has played in 28 games for the Colorado Rockies so far this year and he is 31 of 103 (.301 avg, .785 OPS) with 18 runs scored, 2 homers, 10 RBIs and 5 stolen bases.  He has now played in 554 games in his first six years with the Rockies and he is 529 of 1,854 (.285 avg, .704 OPS) with 230 runs scored, 17 homers, 167 RBIs and 57 stolen bases.  He was a National League All-Star in 2015 (for the first time) and he won a Gold Glove Award in 2014.  He is a rock solid player for the Rockies!

35-year old righty swinging outfielder Ryan Raburn is crushing the baseball so far this year for the Colorado Rockies.  He has played in 20 games for the Rockies so far this year and he is 13 of 36 (.361 avg, 1.220 OPS) with 7 runs scored, 4 homers and 8 RBIs.  Raburn has a reputation for crushing lefty pitches and he is living up to that so far this year.  He is 6 for 15 (.400 avg, 1.633 OPS) with 5 runs scored, 3 homers and 6 RBIs against them so far this year.  The Rockies need to find some more ABs for Raburn moving forward.

The Colorado Rockies are getting good work from their 1B

32-year old righty swinging Mark Reynolds and 28-year old lefty swinging Ben Paulsen are giving the Colorado Rockies a lot of production at 1B so far in 2016.  Reynolds has played in 18 games for the Rockies so far this year and he is 14 of 47 (.298 avg, .868 OPS) with 8 runs scored, 1 homer and 5 RBIs.  He was whiffed 18 times already this year, but what you see is what you get with Reynolds…..a lot of power along with a ton of whiffs.  Paulsen has played in 18 games for the Rockies so far this year and he is 14 of 43 (.326 avg, .895 OPS) with 5 runs scored, 1 homer and 9 RBIs.  He has whiffed 13 times so far this year, but the Rockies will put up with it as long as he is raking at the plate.

Nolan Arenado is rolling for the Colorado Rockies

Let Trevor Story get all the ink, because I’m sure that 25-year old righty swinging 3B Nolan Arenado of the Colorado Rockies would rather sneak up on teams.  If that is even possible!  After all, he played in 157 games for the Rockies last year in which he was 177 of 616 (.287 avg, .898 OPS) with 97 runs scored, 42 homers (led National League), 130 RBIs (led Major Leagues) and 2 stolen bases.  He was an All-Star and he won a Gold Glove and a Silver Slugger Award for the Rockies in 2015.  He also finished 8th in the voting for the N.L. MVP Award in 2015.  He is off to another blazing start as he cranked two solo homers yesterday at Wrigley Field to power the Rockies to a 2-0 win!  He has played in 12 games for the Rockies so far this year and he is 14 of 50 (.280 avg, 1.021 OPS) with 10 runs scored, 6 homers and a Major League leading 16 RBIs!  The Rockies hope that Arenado keeps up the good work as he is one of the very best all-around players in baseball right now.

The bench is off to a good start for the Colorado Rockies

The Colorado Rockies‘ bench is looking impressive so far this year.  Righty swinging OF Ryan Raburn has played in all 3 games for the Rockies so far this year and he is 2 for 5 (.400 avg, 1.400 OPS) with 1 run scored, 1 homer and 1 RBI.  Righty swinging outfielder Brandon Barnes has played in 2 games for the Rockies so far this year and he is 2 for 3 (.667 avg, 1.417 OPS), but he has already been caught stealing twice.  Lefty swinging 1B Ben Paulsen has played in 2 games for the Rockies so far this year and he is 2 for 4 (.500 avg, 1.500 OPS) with 1 run scored and 2 doubles.  These guys might not start a lot of games in 2016, but they will play in a lot of games due to the pinch hitting needs of the Rockies.  I don’t see many complete games out of their starting rotation in 2016.

27-year old righty swinging 2B D.J. LeMahieu and 23-year old righty swinging SS Trevor Story are raking at the plate for the Colorado Rockies so far this year.  LeMahieu played in 3 games against the D-Backs and he was 6 for 10 (.600 avg, 1.800 OPS) with 4 runs scored, 2 homers and 4 RBIs.  Story came into this season as the Rockies’ #8 prospect according to Baseball America.  He is showing why so far this year.  Story played in 3 games against the D-Backs and he was 4 for 14 (.286 avg, 1.429 OPS) with 4 runs scored, 4 homers and 7 RBIs.  Story has hit at least one homer in all three of the Rockies’ games so far, which is amazing.  The Rockies scored 20 runs and whacked 10 homers in the opening series against the D-Backs and that allowed them to win 2 of their first three games.

Gerardo Parra might not be a great fit for the Colorado Rockies

28-year old lefty swinging LF Gerardo Parra was given a nice contract from the Colorado Rockies over the winter.  He played in 155 games for the Orioles and Brewers last year in which he was 159 of 547 (.291 avg, .780 OPS) with 83 runs scored, 14 homers, 51 RBIs and 14 stolen bases.  Parra has not posted big numbers in Coors Field so far in his career.  He has played in 48 games at Coors Field so far in his career and he is 49 of 173 (.283 avg, .725 OPS) with 28 runs scored, 0 homers, 12 RBIs and 8 stolen bases there.  Parra will help the Rockies’ D as he has won two Gold Gloves so far in his career.

Injuries opened up P.T. for 27-year old lefty swinging outfielder Charlie Blackmon and he has taken full advantage of it.  He has played in 81 games for the Rockies so far this year and he is 74 of 242 (.306 avg, .798 OPS) with 34 runs scored, 6 homers, 21 RBIs and 7 stolen bases.  He is a hacker at the plate though as he has whiffed 48 times while only walking six time so far this year.  Blackmon has now played in 150 games in his first three years with the Rockies and he is 131 of 453 (.289 avg, .733 OPS) with 58 runs scored, 9 homers, 38 RBIs and 13 stolen bases.
